A strong thunderstorm passed over Utah Valley at about 4:00 pm on 31 August 2000. There is evidence of a strong downdraft in the wind direction and in the strong spike in the barometric pressure (mesohigh) just as the rainfall begins. There is also evidence of a strong westerly gust front that abruptly changes to an easterly wind just after the peak of the mesohigh passes.
